Job Description

An opportunity to work for a well-respected shipowner as Senior Claims Executive where you will be responsible for handling claims across all insurance markets (P&I, FD&D, H&M, War etc) as well as commercial disputes which fall outside insurance cover.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Primary point of contact for P&I claims from the fleet with a focus on crew and cargo claims from inception to completion
  • Primary point of contact and responsibility for hull and machinery claims. Liaising internally, with hull and machinery brokers, underwriters and adjusters in the handling of these claims, ensuring timely and full collections of recoveries
  • Handling FD&D, H&M, War, K&R, SOL, etc claims in liaison with the Claims Manager
  • Provide emergency and out of office response to casualties
  • Deputise for Claims Manager as and when required
  • Provide advice internally across the fleet, HSSE, chartering, operations and post-fixtures departments on various claims related and commercial issues
  • Liaising with P&I Clubs regarding claims and responding to general claims queries (e.g. collective bargaining agreements, ITF issues, sanctions, deviation)
  • Engaging and managing external advisers (experts, surveyors, adjusters, lawyers)
  • Manage the claims data records
  • Chasing up all outstanding claims documentation and other general insurance/claims administration
  • Liaise internally to ensure the claims process is adhered to. Issuing monthly reports on the status of Finance/Claims reconciliation and reporting to the Claims Manager

To be a suitable candidate for this position you must have a minimum of two years’ experience working within a claims department either for a shipowner, P&I club or marine insurance company.

All applicants must already live within a reasonable commute of London and possess existing and unrestricted UK working entitlement.
