Committed to sustainable sourcing, our client is a recognised entity responsible for the procurement, trading, chartering and commodity risk management of edible oils who is presently looking for a Commercial Manager (Operations & Documentation) to join their team.  This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well-respected organisation in a highly pivotal operations position. 

This role may be based in Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. In this role you will manage a team of four. 

Your remit will include but will not be limited to:

  • ensure the coordination between chartering, trading, unit operations & finance teams to yield seamless supply chain
  • lead and manage Operations & Documentation department, ensuring end-to-end planning and managing of supply chain from post freight fixture to the arrival of cargo
  • lead and manage Operations & Documentation department regarding third-party sales ensuring planning & management with coordination between buyers, suppliers and chartering team – confirming Letter of Credit (LOC) and other payments are in line
  • stay abreast of and update team on changing regulations related to port, customs, insurance, shipping, tariffs, banking, sustainability, etc. which may impact operations
  • develop and implement new methods, best practices, controls and monitoring of Operations & Documentation solutions in order to facilitate/accommodate growth

A successful candidate will be a university graduate and should come with Minimum 10-15 years hands-on working experience in Logistics/Operations/Post fixture/Shipment documentation in the edible oil space and be familiar with various vegetable oil / palm oil trade and contract terms/requirements (i.e., PORAM, MEOMA, FOSFA, NIOP, etc.).   You should have had previous exposure to marine insurance coverage and claims and should have awareness and exposure to RSPO, GMP, HACCP, ISO, etc. procedures and compliance requirements.

You will possess proven leadership skills and previous experience in a managerial function.  Superior problem solving and interpersonal skills and the ability to manage and engage key stakeholders effectively is a must.
